EVENTS & SCHEDULE
An event schedule is available.
Single-event tickets are now available. Brunch tickets will only be available until Sunday March 11th!
Here's what we're planning...
Star Date 2018075 - Fri. Mar. 16th
Ukrainian Orthodox Hall
Our teleporter rooms and docking stations will be busy with arrivals checking in for the weekend, or purchasing their passes for the night. At the registration area, you will receive your wristbands with the appropriate security access levels. If you pre-ordered one or more of our stylish planetary T-shirts, please see a member of our crew for collection.
Our evening blasts off with a beginner terrestrial dance lesson, great for jedis and wookies who are newer to the ways of Lindy hop. The Seven Deadly Syncopators will take the stage for 3 sets of stellar music! Dance the night away and be prepared for chance competitions amongst the galactic space-travellers who are wise in the ways of Lindy hop and fast on their feet.
“One thing’s for sure - we’re all going to be a lot thinner” - Han Solo
Star Date 2018076 - Sat. Mar. 17th
Daytime Activities and Shenanigans
“Adventure. Excitement. A Jedi craves not these things.” - Yoda. (But a Lindy-hopper might!)
Small Scene Summit
Congress Beer House, 11:30am-1:30pm
If you are attending PLEX and are a scene leader or representative for your scene, the small scene summit is for you! This meeting provides a time for all groups to get together in discussions that help, support, build, and define our prairie swing dance communities. They also plan for future PLEX locations! Join in the community and capacity building between our scenes (by invite or request).
“Mmm. Lost a planet, Master Obi-Wan has. How embarrassing” - Yoda
Bon Temps Cafe, 11:30am-1:30pm
If you are a DJ or interested in becoming a DJ in your swing dance scene, join in the DJ summit for discussions around all things DJ.
“Travelling through hyperspace ain’t like dusting crops, boy” - Han Solo
Board Game Lobby
Ukrainian Orthodox Hall - lobby, 1:30pm-4pm
While traveling the universe many of our guests have taken part in and accumulated a variety of different board games. If you’d like to host a specific game, bring it along with you to our gathering so other travellers may take part. Or just come on in to see what others have brought along to play.
“Curse your sudden, but inevitable betrayal!” - Hoban ‘Wash’ Washburne
Team Space Cadets (Dice Duel style)
Ukrainian Orthodox Hall - main hall, 1:30pm-4pm
Have you ever tried a simulated space battle while you were a space cadet (before you got your own starship)? No? Well, now’s your chance! Join us in a large floor plan (up-scaled) version of “Space Cadets Dice Duel” where we will utilize our simulated starship bridges. You can try being a ship’s captain with a crew of 3-4 others operating your engineering, helm, shields, sensors and targeting. Role swapping encouraged, plus we will need some dice runners and referees for this epic cadet battle!
“The ships hung in the sky in much the same way that bricks don’t” - Douglas Adams (Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy)
Ukrainian Orthodox Hall
Beam on down for another night of swinging out to the celestial sounds of The Seven Deadly Syncopators. Preparing for your first flight on the dance floor? Take a lesson with our flight instructors right before the main event starts to get your basics down. This is the night to join in an inter-galactic “Next Trickeration”, test your skills in some competitions, or just dance, dance, dance!
“I am a leaf on the wind - watch how I soar” - Hoban "Wash" Washburne
“I suggest a new strategy R2. Let the wookie win.” - C3PO
Third Avenue United Church, basement
Does the vastness of space and dance call out to you? The moon and stars are finally dimming as the sun nears the horizon before these travellers call it quits! Keep dancing to synodic and jamming rhythms selected by talented DJs from our various scenes.
“When you can't run, you crawl. And when you can't crawl, when you can't do that… ... you find someone to carry you.” - Tracey Smith, Zoe Washburne
Star Date 2018077 - Sun. Mar. 18th
Brunch and Dance
Princess Alexandra School
Sleep-in a bit before joining your comrades for a catered brunch and some more Lindy hop. Providing us with some extra incentive to get up on our feet and keep dancing, enjoy an hour set by Saskatoon’s own Wooden Nickel Dance Band! Keep your wits about you as there may also be a chance to use some trivia skills.
“Judge me by my size, do you?” - Yoda
Wrap-Up & After-Party Dance
The Feisty Goat Bar & Grill, 7pm-12am
Although some of our fellow space explorers may have to depart, those remaining have one more party to attend. Stick around for an informal evening of fun dancing and visiting about the weekend-that-was.
“I’m coming back in… and it’s the saddest moment of my life.” - Ed White
”When I first looked back at the Earth, standing on the Moon, I cried.” - Alan Shepard
“May the force be with you”
